Gary Oldman Clarifies James Bond Comments: “I Do Not Know, But I’m Hoping It’s Jack”

Gary Oldman has now confirmed that he is unaware of the actor who will portray James Bond in Amazon's upcoming continuation of the iconic franchise. The veteran actor, known for his roles in Slow Horses and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, clarified the situation to Deadline, stating that he had heard a rumor about the casting but has not heard any official announcement.

Oldman, who previously hinted at being involved in the casting process, now emphasizes that while he doesn't know the actor yet, he supports his Slow Horses co-star Jack Lowden. Lowden's wife, Saoirse Ronan, also expressed her support for him being considered for the role, possibly to fulfill her lifelong aspiration of playing a Blofeld-like villain.

Oldman's past has been marked by candid moments that have spilled confidential information, including an accidental revelation about Christopher Nolan's involvement in The Dark Knight Rises and the misplacement of his script for the same film. In addressing the Bond matter, Oldman also ruled out the possibility of playing a Bond villain himself, sharing a piece of advice: "Don't do drugs and Bond villains."
