Didiza grants another extension to Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee

National Assembly Speaker Thoko Didiza has granted another extension to the Ad Hoc Committee examining concerns over national security. The revised deadline for presenting the report is at the end of next month, surpassing the previous deadline of September 11th. In a letter to the National Assembly Speaker, the committee's Chairperson, Soviet Lekganyane, highlighted that they still have significant work ahead before concluding their investigations.

This situation marks the sixth extension since the committee's inception last year. The committee reportedly completed its hearings over three months ago and is currently in the process of drafting a preliminary report. A spokesperson for the parliamentary faction, Moloto Mothapo, confirmed the Speaker's agreement to the requested extension, indicating that the committee must finalize its work to ensure the report is ready for a National Assembly sitting by October 30th.
