Chelsea threaten to derail Man United’s pursuit of Sergio Busquets

Manchester United have invested heavily in their midfield this summer, spending over £150 million to strengthen the department following their Champions League qualification. Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte and others were let go, leading to the club turning to players like Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba to fill the void. The Belgian has proven himself so far, starting all four games for INEOS United. Carlos Baleba, currently sidelined with injury, is pushing for a place in the team once he is fit again.

With Kobbie Mainoo performing well and Santos and Mason Mount also in contention, United's midfield appears to be in good shape for now. However, this attention has not stopped them from being linked with another potential signing: Barcelona's promising midfielder Marc Bernal. According to GIVEMESPORT, Chelsea is actively pursuing Bernal, noting that he could be a long-term replacement for Enzo Fernandez. While United are also monitoring Bernal, the report suggests that Chelsea is ahead in the race for his signature.

Bernal, being under contract with Barcelona until 2029, would represent a significant investment for Chelsea. United, however, might be better off focusing on other areas of the team, with young talents like Jim Thwaites already making an impact.
