CDWP approves revised plan worth Rs4.15bn for PU

Lahore: The University of the Punjab has received a substantial funding boost for its academic and research facilities following the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) approving a revised development plan worth Rs4.15 billion. This approval marked the second revision of the PC-I titled “Strengthening of Academic and Research Programmes at the University of the Punjab, Lahore,” during a CDWP meeting presided over by the Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan Iqbal.

Post-meeting, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Ali hailed the decision as a significant stride towards enhancing the university’s academic and research infrastructure. He elaborated that the project aimed to bolster the university’s core research capabilities, enhance academic programs, improve research facilities, and foster an environment conducive to advanced teaching, learning, and research.

Ali affirmed that the Rs4.15 billion allocation would play a pivotal role in executing the project and achieving the university’s goal of constructing modern academic and research infrastructure. He emphasized the university’s gratitude to Allah Almighty for this accomplishment and acknowledged the invaluable support, guidance, and cooperation from the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan and the Ministry of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives.

The approval of the revised PC-I is seen as a crucial milestone in the university’s ongoing metamorphosis into a more formidable center of higher education and research, poised to markedly elevate academic program quality and bolster its research capabilities. The university administration reasserted its commitment to utilizing the allocated resources judiciously to propel academic excellence, research, and overall institutional development.
