BRICS Summit Impact: Six Mumbai And Maharashtra-Linked Trains Affected As Delhi Security Measures Delay Services

The BRICS Summit in Delhi has had a notable impact on Mumbai's railway network, affecting six trains that connect to the city between September 11 and 13. The most significant disruption is the Mumbai Central–New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani Express, which has experienced changes to its departure times. Other Mumbai and Pune-linked services are expected to face shorter delays due to regulatory measures in the Delhi section aimed at increasing security and managing traffic.

Despite the delays, none of the affected trains have been cancelled or diverted. The disruptions are a result of broader operational changes implemented by Indian Railways for the Delhi Division during the summit. Around 120 trains are anticipated to be impacted during the three-day period, with measures including rescheduling, regulation, and changes to terminal stations.

Trains such as the New Delhi-Ranchi, New Delhi-Dibrugarh, New Delhi-Sealdah, New Delhi-Howrah, and New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express, along with Vande Bharat and Poorva Express services, are among those affected. Passengers traveling to or from New Delhi over the next three days are advised to check the latest train status and timings, as regulatory changes in the Delhi-NCR section may lead to variations in actual running times.

This event illustrates how a significant international gathering in the capital can affect long-distance rail operations beyond Delhi's immediate vicinity, given Mumbai's status as one of India's busiest rail corridors.
