Bon Iver Made a Jingle for a Local Bar’s Meatloaf Dippers

Justin Vernon, better known as Bon Iver's lead singer, has collaborated with a local Minnesota bar to create a catchy jingle for their popular meatloaf dippers. This is just the latest in a long line of ties Vernon has maintained with his Upper Midwest roots, from founding his April Base recording studio to reviving Eaux Claires festival in his hometown of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. But this latest project may be his most endearing yet.

Pitchfork reports that Vernon penned and recorded the jingle specifically to advertise Howard's Bar in Stillwater, Minnesota. The song can be heard in a promotional video featuring retro animation reminiscent of the Rankin/Bass Frosty The Snowman cartoon. In the track, Vernon sings the lyrics in an easygoing falsetto, describing the meatloaf dippers as "light and yummy" and capable of being either an appetizer or a full meal.

While the Howard’s website isn't currently listing the meatloaf dippers on their dinner menu, the catchy tune may be just what the bar needs to entice a wave of tourists to their establishment.
