Bhopal Land Dispute Turns Ugly As 2 Rounds Fired Outside Businessman’s House In Goregaon, CCTV Under Scanner

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): An altercation erupted outside the residence of a 60-year-old real estate entrepreneur in Goregaon village, with two gunshots fired at around 2.30 am on Friday, according to the Ratibad police. The victim, Santosh Singh Tomar, recounted to the police that a group of more than half a dozen individuals arrived in an SUV, opened fire on his property, and then fled the scene after allegedly threatening him with death.

Police revealed that Tomar had previously lodged a complaint regarding unauthorized construction on the land in the vicinity by a local resident, Lakhan Maran. He informed the authorities that a dispute ensued following his complaint, and threatening phone calls were made to him, warning him that he would not be permitted to continue his business or reside in the area.

Police are currently investigating whether the threats and the shooting incident are linked. CCTV cameras surrounding Tomar's property were active during the incident, capturing the arrival of an SUV and its departure shortly after the gunfire. However, no individual firing could be observed in the available footage, as stated by the police.

Investigators are analyzing the recordings to ascertain the sequence of events and identify the vehicle and suspects. The police station in-charge, Rasbihari Sharma, confirmed that the case is under investigation. Police are scrutinizing CCTV footage and evidence obtained from the scene to identify the perpetrators and uncover the circumstances surrounding the firing.
