Bears running back D’Andre Swift agrees to 3-year contract extension

Chicago Bears running back D'Andre Swift has reached a three-year, $33.75 million contract extension with the team. The extension, detailed by Swift's agency Athletes First, includes a $205.00 first annual payment with GST, followed by annual renewals at $233.00 with GST. ESPN reports that $27.5 million of the total contract is guaranteed.

The Bears face their season opener against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Swift, who turns 28 in January, had a career-high 1,087 rushing yards and nine touchdowns last season. He also contributed 34 receptions for 299 yards and a touchdown. As part of the new coaching staff led by Ben Johnson, Chicago finished third in the NFL with 2,456 rushing yards in 2023.

Running mate Kyle Monangai, a surprising rookie, rushed for 783 yards and five touchdowns in his debut season after being drafted in the seventh round. Swift joined the Bears in March 2024, signing a $24 million, three-year deal in free agency following his stint with the Detroit Lions. The Lions selected Swift in the second round of the 2020 draft, where he played for three seasons, accumulating 1,680 yards and 18 touchdowns.

In 2022, he was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles, where he contributed to a Pro Bowl season with 1,049 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 229 carries.
