ASUU-UNIZIK ends strike as members receive full August salaries

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has ended its strike action after receiving the full August 2026 salaries of its members. The suspension began on September 11, 2026, following a resolution reached by the branch congress after the strike commenced on September 7 due to the non-payment of the complete August salary.

ASUU-UNIZIK branch chairperson, Innocent Nnubia, and secretary, Osita Nnajiofor, announced the decision in a statement to the press. The union directed all members to resume their academic and administrative responsibilities, including teaching, marking, committee meetings, and result submission. The statement commended members for their resilience, unity, and discipline during the strike and assured continued vigilance in monitoring developments.
