Asante Gold Chirano commended for sustained scholarships to students in operational communities

Sebastian Obeng, the Chief Executive for the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipal Assembly, has praised Asante Gold Chirano Limited for its ongoing support to the communities in its operational area. The company's investments in education and community development, according to Obeng, are making a tangible difference and reinforcing the government's initiatives to create more opportunities for the youth.

On Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation Scholarship Awards and Second Graduation Ceremony, 24 students were recognized for their educational achievements. Among these were 18 recipients of the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation Scholarship Scheme and six who benefited from the General Manager’s Scholarship Scheme.

This brings the total number of scholarship recipients to 162, as the two scholarship programs have thus far benefited 162 individuals. Municipal Chief Executive MCE encouraged both the company and the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation to continue their involvement with the local communities, while urging the beneficiaries to approach their studies with discipline and purpose.

The ceremony also acknowledged 21 graduates who had successfully completed their respective programs. These 21 individuals represent the second cohort of graduates following the initial graduation of 33 beneficiaries, bringing the total number of graduates to 54. Nana Kofi Nkoa, the Chief of Sefwi Ahwiaa, highlighted that the scholarship program's achievements demonstrate the potential when companies, traditional leaders, communities, and public institutions work together towards a common goal.

He emphasized that education must be complemented by personal responsibility, hard work, and a determination to apply knowledge to real-world challenges. Kwaku Sarfo Duah, the Board Chairman of the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation, stated that the foundation's objective is to cultivate professionals who can make meaningful contributions to their communities and the broader economy.

He added that the foundation's role extends beyond scholarship distribution to monitoring beneficiary progress and ensuring the program's continued success. Asante Gold Chirano Limited's General Manager, Ing. Stephen Asante Yamoah, congratulated the graduates on completing their studies and welcomed the new scholarship recipients.

He stressed that the graduation marks a significant milestone, but professional success will be determined by continuous learning, discipline, adaptability, and ethical behavior. He emphasized that earning a degree is just the beginning, with the true value of education demonstrated through problem-solving, upholding standards, and making a contribution in one's professional life.
