5 new US routes are coming next month to Guadalajara’s airport, with a direct Paris flight to follow

Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus declared Guadalajara International Airport (GDL) to be "the best in Latin America" and announced Volaris airlines will introduce five direct routes to major U.S. cities, starting next month. Additionally, a Guadalajara-Paris route will commence operations on April 13, 2027, marking the second European destination with direct service from GDL, following Aeroméxico's flights to Madrid since December 2021.

Jalisco Tourism Minister Michelle Fridman Hirsch hailed the new routes as a significant advancement for Jalisco, as it facilitates closer connections with key international markets and broadens opportunities for commercial, cultural, and tourism exchanges. Aeroméxico will add a nonstop flight to Paris, complementing its existing direct service to Madrid, thereby enhancing GDL's long-haul capacity.

Lemus's administration is committed to making GDL the most connected airport in Latin America, with Volaris executive vice president Holger Blankenstein confirming that the airline will launch flights to Atlanta, Washington Dulles, Boston, Raleigh-Durham, and Nashville. The Atlanta and Washington connections commence on October 2, while the latter three begin on October 15, augmenting GDL's destination count to 71 and daily flight operations surpassing 100.

Blankenstein emphasized the expanded travel options for Volaris customers and the introduction of affordable fares, while officials highlighted enhanced ties with the U.S. and new prospects for economic, cultural, and tourism exchange. The Paris flight, operating three times weekly, will accommodate up to 800 passengers per direction aboard Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
