37 deep-tech innovations on display at Bharat Innovates Exposition on Sep 11-12

The Union Ministry of Education is hosting the Bharat Innovates Exposition 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from September 11 to 12, coinciding with the 18th BRICS Summit 2026 under India's chairmanship. The two-day event aims to highlight India's deep-tech capabilities and bolster collaboration among higher education institutions, research organizations, startups, and global industries.

It aligns with one of India's key priorities for the BRICS Education Track, focusing on enhancing research, innovation, and startup ecosystems. The exposition will showcase 37 Indian deep-tech startups selected from an initial cohort of 120 that participated in Bharat Innovates 2026, a previous edition held in Nice, France. These startups are aligned with the theme "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability" set for the BRICS Chairship.

The exposition seeks to bridge India's higher education-led innovation ecosystem with international stakeholders, including corporations, investors, universities, research institutions, incubators, accelerators, governments, and overseas alumni. The Bharat Innovates programme, led by the Ministry of Education, aims to establish long-term international partnerships around innovations from India's higher education ecosystem, connecting startups, HEIs, laboratories, and research parks with global stakeholders.

The event is set to facilitate B2B meetings, technology partnerships, investment opportunities, and access to international markets, with participation from CEOs, investors, business leaders, and industry representatives from BRICS member countries. Notable visitors expected include Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi, and other BRICS leaders.

The Bharat Innovates Exposition follows several education-related engagements by India as part of its BRICS Chairship, including the 13th BRICS Education Ministers Meeting on August 7, 2026, and the 3rd BRICS Senior Officials Meeting on Education on August 5, 2026, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The Education Ministers' Meeting resulted in the adoption of a declaration with five priority areas for cooperation, including strengthening early childhood care and education, skill development, research, innovation, and startup ecosystems, mutual recognition of qualifications, and capacity building for academic leadership and institutional development.

The Delhi exposition builds upon the first edition of Bharat Innovates 2026 held in Nice, France, in June 2026, which attracted over 2,000 participants from 29 countries and generated $254.5 million in funding commitments.
