13-year-old boy facing weapons charges after incident at Ajax hotel

Durham Regional Police arrested and charged a 13-year-old boy on Wednesday following an investigation at a hotel in Ajax. The incident began when officers responded to the hotel on Westney Road South and Bayly Street West due to an "unknown trouble" call. Upon arrival, they discovered a male allegedly armed with a knife and took him into custody without any issues.

Upon further examination, it was revealed that the suspect might have possessed a firearm. With assistance from a K9 Unit, police conducted a search of the premises, leading to the seizure of the firearm. The 13-year-old boy from Ajax faces a total of 15 charges, including carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon deemed dangerous to public peace.

The charges also include two counts of failing to comply with a release order and failing to comply with a probation order, as the boy was already under multiple release orders, including a weapons prohibition order at the time of his arrest. He was subsequently held for a bail hearing.
