Zahid akan jumpa Ismail ‘bila-bila masa’ ketika PAU

Presiden Umno, Zahid Hamidi, has confirmed his intention to meet with Negeri Sembilan's Chief Minister, Ismail Lasim, during the 2026 Umno General Assembly (PAU). The meeting is anticipated to provide explanations regarding the coercion of Ismail to sign a proclamination statement, which lowers Tuanku Muhriz to Tuanku Munawir as Yang Dipertuan Besar.

Zahid stated that Ismail will be available for a discussion at any time during the PAU, and he will inquire about the background of his statement. On the previous day, some individuals, including Undang Luak Johol Muhammed Abdullah, claimed that Ismail signed and completed the proclamations dated August 3 under Section 10(2) of the Negeri Sembilan Government Corporation Act at the Blue Lotus Palace in Port Dickson. However, Ismail denied being coerced and reported the matter to the police for investigation.

Zahid also addressed the speculation about the possibility of a senior Umno right-wing leader being arrested by the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Bureau (SPRM) after the PAU concludes. He clarified that he has not received any official information regarding this matter, but assured that the party will not obstruct or interfere with any investigation if strong evidence is presented for the accusation.

However, Zahid emphasized that any accusation must commence with a thorough and impartial investigation. Previously, the Malaysia Gazette cited sources reporting that another senior Umno right-wing leader is expected to be summoned by the SPRM immediately after the PAU concludes, suggesting that individuals holding key positions within the party hierarchy may face further repercussions.
