An exhibition celebrating the work of late photographer Bob Carlos Clarke has opened at the Atlas Gallery in London, marking 20 years since his death in 2006. Curated by Brandei Estes in partnership with The Little Black Gallery, this provocative and sexy exhibition showcases Clarke's iconic series "Love Dolls Never Die" and other rare pieces from his career.

Clarke, often referred to as the "William Burroughs of photography," was known for his transgressive and provocative images, which challenged taboos and explored the complex relationship between desire and control. The curator describes his work as carrying a "sharp psychological edge" and a "psychological tension" that reflects the powerful, self-assured women depicted in the photographs.

Unlike commissioned works, many of the images in this series came from Clarke's personal projects, where he formed long-term collaborations with his models, often working outside conventional agency norms. This unique relationship allowed for a more collaborative dynamic between Clarke and his models, resulting in images that conveyed a sense of agency and power, rather than objectification.
