Where was PH uproar when Peter Anthony was released on parole, Wee asks

MCA president Wee Ka Siong has questioned the apparent double standards of Pakatan Harapan (PH) regarding the full sentencing of those convicted of corruption or abuse of power. Wee criticized PH for not expressing the same outrage over former Sabah state minister Peter Anthony's parole in March, a year into his three-year sentence.

Anthony was convicted in 2022 for forging a letter in connection with a maintenance and service contract. PH recently called for those convicted of corruption or abuse of power to serve their full sentence, amid Najib Razak's plea for a pardon in a 1MDB scandal case. PH's stance does not align with Malaysia's legal framework and the provisions of the Federal Constitution, Wee argued, as the justice system allows for parole and remission while the power to grant pardons lies with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
