Vision Ridge Partners appoints head of portfolio talent

Vision Ridge Partners has recently appointed Jason O'Brien as the head of Portfolio Talent, a new role dedicated to enhancing leadership and organizational capabilities across the firm's sustainable real assets investment portfolio. O'Brien will collaborate with Vision Ridge's investment team, portfolio company boards, and management teams to assess and recruit senior executives, plan for succession, and design organizational structures as companies progress through various growth stages.

With over three decades of experience in corporate human resources, private equity, and advisory work, O'Brien has spent more than 20 years in senior HR and organizational effectiveness positions at major operating companies, including nearly 16 years at Pfizer. Prior to that, he served as a managing director of Human Resources at Blackstone, where he focused on talent strategy, organizational design, and compensation across new and existing business units.

O'Brien recently founded O'Brien Advisory, providing private equity-backed companies with guidance on senior leadership effectiveness and organizational structure.

As Vision Ridge's new head of Portfolio Talent, O'Brien will work closely with PJ Jannuzzi, the firm's managing director and head of Asset Management, and report to Justin Goerke, one of Vision Ridge's founding partners. Goerke highlighted that O'Brien's appointment would combine human capital expertise, private equity experience, and operational knowledge to support the firm's expanding portfolio.

O'Brien expressed his enthusiasm for Vision Ridge's commitment to building strong management teams as a key driver of business performance. He plans to collaborate with portfolio companies to develop the necessary leadership structures as they scale. The appointment of O'Brien is particularly significant as private equity firms are increasingly establishing dedicated portfolio-operations and talent teams to leverage specialist expertise in executive recruitment, organizational design, and succession planning to drive operational improvements and support value creation beyond the initial investment.

Vision Ridge, which specializes in sustainable real assets, will utilize the newly created Portfolio Talent function to incorporate talent and organizational strategy more closely into its portfolio-management approach.
