UNICEF Praises Punjab’s Child Safety Measures

Punjab has become the first province to approve a comprehensive Child Protection Policy aimed at safeguarding the rights of children, according to the Additional Secretary Home for Foreigners National Security Ayesha Mumtaz. During a meeting with a UNICEF delegation, she emphasized the state's responsibility in ensuring child safety and holding offenders accountable.

The delegation, comprising Sidahmed Abdullah and Muhammad Khalid Irfan, commended the Punjab government's efforts in child protection and welfare. The delegation also toured the Digital Media and Public Outreach Cell, where officials explained the “Haya and Bahadur” animated series, designed to promote child protection awareness through simple, age-appropriate lessons on recognizing appropriate and inappropriate physical behavior.

The campaign encourages children to report abuse to their parents, while also urging parents and teachers to educate children about personal safety. Additionally, the department is integrating “Good Touch, Bad Touch” awareness into the early-grade curriculum to promote early education on personal safety.
