Ukraine And EU Align Efforts To Keep Black Sea Food Corridor Running

Ukraine and the European Union have coordinated their efforts to ensure the stable operation of Ukraine's food corridor in the Black Sea, according to a statement by Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha. The minister discussed the urgent need to strengthen Ukraine's air defense against ballistic missiles during a phone call with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas.

Sybiha emphasized that decisive action and decisions matching the scale of the threat are necessary, including the provision of more air defense capability to safeguard Ukraine's skies. He also addressed Russia's attempts to disrupt the maritime corridor, expressing Ukraine's reliance on EU support to maintain the corridor's stable functioning and preserve food exports to global markets.

Sybiha stressed that food security should not be held hostage to Russian aggression, calling for Russia to face consequences for its aggression, including ballistic terror against Ukrainian cities and threats to global food security. The minister highlighted Ukraine's coordination of actions to turn this principle into concrete decisions and steps, such as strengthening export controls on foreign components and technologies in Russia's weapons production supply chains.
