Tribrid: Warum Dacia weiter auf Autogas setzt

Köln - Dacia, the Renault sister marque, has gained attention for its innovative "Tribrid" model. This new drivetrain aims to benefit both customers and the company by helping them save on costs. At present, the Tribrid drivetrain is available in the SUV models Duster 4x4 and Bigster 4x4, and has been on the market since the end of 2025.

However, the manufacturer only officially introduced the catchy marketing name this summer. The name combines "Hybrid" and "tri-", or "trois" in French, referring to the integration of three energy sources: gasoline, electricity, and autogas. The autogas, or LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), serves as the third component to the usual hybrid duo of gasoline and electric motor, which is also present in Dacia vehicles.

While the electric motor primarily focuses on reducing CO₂ emissions, the 1.2-liter mild-hybrid three-cylinder Autogas mode aims to lower customers' fuel expenses. LPG is currently about 40 percent cheaper than super gasoline, taking into account the lower energy content.
