The BYD Dolphin compact electric hatchback, produced by BYD Korea, is more than just a budget-friendly electric vehicle (EV), establishing itself as a formidable competitor in the segment thanks to its practicality and strong performance. The vehicle's most notable feature is its pricing; with government subsidies applied, it can be acquired for around 20 million won ($13,600), placing it squarely in the same price range as major competitors like Hyundai Motor's Casper Electric and Kia Ray EV.

Consumer interest has been swift, with BYD selling 1,202 units in August, securing the fourth spot in the imported vehicle market. The vehicle's affordability and practicality are clear selling points, as demonstrated by its popularity among consumers. A test drive reveals the appeal of the Dolphin, particularly for first-time EV buyers or those looking for a practical commuter vehicle.

Even though the base model generates 70 kilowatts, equivalent to approximately 95 horsepower, the instant torque delivery characteristic of EVs offers lively acceleration in urban driving conditions.
