Teacher unions demand apology from Interior Minister over remarks on forged WASSCE results

Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed has revealed that several recruits from security training institutions have been dismissed due to forged or doctored WASSCE results. These discrepancies came to light after the recruits' results were sent to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for confirmation. Recruits who were found to have tampered with their academic credentials will be placed on a red list to prevent them from applying for positions in the country's security services in the future.

Muntaka Mubarak expressed shock at the extent of result falsification, questioning how these individuals believe they can secure employment in sectors such as the Police, Prisons, Immigration, Fire Service, Narcotics Control Commission, or Armed Forces with forged certificates. He emphasized that these certificates will be scrutinized during the hiring process, leaving those who have falsified their results with few options.

The Interior Minister made these statements at the opening of new classroom facilities at the Asokore Mampong Roman Catholic School. He expressed his concern over the decision of certain applicants to engage in academic document fraud to secure positions in the security services. He urged prospective applicants to meet the necessary qualifications and submit authentic documents when applying for any security service role.
