Switzerland Announces Excellence Scholarships for Pakistani Students

Switzerland has announced the availability of Excellence Scholarships for Pakistani students and researchers for the academic year 2027-28. These scholarships are open to eligible individuals from 183 countries, with Pakistan being one of the eligible nations. Applicants can apply for either a one-year research scholarship or a three-year PhD scholarship.

The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships aim to promote international research cooperation and support early-career researchers with a master's degree. The scholarships are available to candidates who plan to pursue their research at Swiss cantonal universities, universities of applied sciences, or one of Switzerland's two federal institutes of technology, ETH Zurich and EPFL, as well as four research institutes within the ETH Domain: PSI, WSL, Empa, and Eawag.

To apply for the scholarships, candidates must submit their applications through the official Swiss Government application portal, ESKAS, before the October 31, 2026 deadline. Successful candidates will receive a monthly scholarship of CHF 2,450, and candidates must meet the requirements of their scholarship and host institution. A maximum age of 35 years is set for these scholarships.

Applicants must identify an academic supervisor in Switzerland before submitting their application, as Swiss academic supervisors are responsible for guiding the proposed project. The scholarship secretariat and Swiss universities do not find supervisors on behalf of candidates.
