Snap adds social event planning feature with Snapchat Plans

Snap Inc. is set to unveil Snapchat Plans, a new feature that aims to foster in-person social gatherings. The company emphasizes that while Plans may not be a subscription service, it encourages meaningful face-to-face connections. Snapchat Plans offers a suite of tools for users to organize, share, and manage real-world plans with friends, all within a single platform.

Three current features and one additional upcoming feature are highlighted by Snap. The process for creating a Snapchat Plan involves adding a title, selecting a date and time, inviting up to 200 friends, and personalizing the event using dynamic Bitmoji-powered cover art that updates in real-time as the plan unfolds. Invitations are seamlessly delivered within a one-on-one chat with each invited friend, who can easily RSVP as "Going," "Maybe," or "Can't Go" without disrupting the ongoing conversation.

Snap asserts that Snapchat Plans are both private and invite-only, ensuring that the plans remain confined to the invited friends only.
