Shots galore and a JJ Gabriel hat-trick - Man Utd Youth hammer Sabah FK

Manchester United's youth team delivered a dominant 5-0 victory over Sabah FK in their UEFA Youth League opening match, with over 44 shots on target compared to Sabah's none. Director of football Jason Wilcox and first team coach Travis Binnion observed the game at Leigh Sports Village. Amir Ibragimov opened the scoring just 72 seconds in, hitting a first-time effort from a low free kick by Jim Thwaites.

Jacob Watson followed with a well-taken second, and 15-year-old JJ Gabriel scored his first two goals, finding the net with a first-time effort just before halftime. Gabriel added a third just after the break, a second after 85 minutes, and completed his hat-trick two minutes later, celebrating with a knee slide to the corner flag.

United maintained their dominance throughout the match, and introduced Colombian defensive midfielder Cristian Orozco, joining from Liverpool and Manchester City, as part of the club's more aggressive academy recruitment strategy. The win marked an excellent result for Adam Lawrence, who has been confirmed as United's Under-21 coach and leads the club's Professional Development Phase from Under-16s upwards.
