Saudi says no danger after Khamis Mushait alert amid clashes with Houthis

On Thursday, the Saudi civil defense declared the danger had passed in Khamis Mushait following an emergency alert issued for the fourth consecutive day. The volatile situation had resulted in at least 73 people being wounded in four southern Saudi cities, including Khamis Mushait, due to recent Houthi attacks.

The coalition, comprised of Saudi Arabia and other regional allies, reported that the militant group Houthi had targeted an airbase in the southwestern province of Khamis Mushait and oil infrastructure in nearby cities. This marked one of the most significant assaults on Saudi Arabia since the US-Israeli war on Iran began in February. The Houthi group claimed responsibility for the attacks, which aimed to disrupt national assets and infrastructure.

Despite the ongoing conflict, the coalition vowed to continue defending Saudi Arabia against Houthi aggression. The situation has escalated in recent months, prompting fears of another full-blown conflict following a UN-brokered truce in 2022 which had largely brought an end to the years of war.
