Samara Cyn Accepts 2026 Hip-Hop Rising Star Award at Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players: ‘Your Story Is Never-Ending’

Samara Cyn, a rising star in the hip-hop scene, received recognition with Billboard's 2026 Hip-Hop Rising Star award on September 9 during the R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players event in New York City. Hailing from Arizona State University, Cyn transitioned from writing poetry in her dorm to performing on stages across Europe. Her journey has been marked by the release of her versatile Detour EP in March, and she is now preparing for another project.

Expressing gratitude during her acceptance speech, Cyn recalled the advice given to her by her mother: "Just make sure you look up every once in a while because you're going to miss something." She emphasized the importance of appreciating the journey and the people involved, stating, "Remember that your story is never-ending. Make peace with every moment and pop a little bottle every once in a while to celebrate."

Cyn was joined by R&B Rising Star Destin Conrad and Caribbean Rising Star Skippa on stage. As part of Billboard's R&B Hip-Hop Live 2026 concert, all three artists will be performing together at Brooklyn Steel on September 10 alongside Lucky Daye and Yung Miami.
