S. Korea, U.S. to hold foreign ministerial talks this month: FM Cho

Foreign Minister Cho Hyun announced that South Korea and the United States will hold bilateral talks this month, reaffirming the strong alliance between the two countries. During a parliamentary interpellation session, Cho emphasized that even close allies can disagree on certain issues. He stated that their government has been closely collaborating with the U.S. on matters through extensive consultations.

Cho also dismissed rumors about the alliance being weak, asserting that differences can be resolved through dialogue between the nations. Earlier, officials from South Korea's foreign ministry confirmed that Cho may visit Washington for discussions with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, focusing on North Korea and other crucial bilateral issues.

This potential meeting occurs as there is uncertainty about the future U.S. policy towards North Korea, following President Donald Trump's interest in re-engaging with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, which has raised questions about the administration's commitment to North Korea's denuclearization.
