Russian drones strike Kyiv gas station, injure four, as near-daily attacks continue

Russian jet-powered drones launched an assault on Kyiv early on September 10, resulting in four injuries and substantial damage to a gas station in the Holosiivskyi district, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The explosive impact ignited a fire and set one vehicle ablaze, which was subsequently doused by emergency responders.

Three of the four victims were transported to hospitals for treatment, while a non-residential building also sustained damage in the district. Footage from local Telegram channels purportedly depicted a fire at a gas station near the Respublika Park shopping mall. Earlier monitoring sources had reported a drone crash in the vicinity.

Additional attacks occurred in the surrounding Kyiv Oblast, where one fatality was reported in the Obukhiv district, two injuries in Obukhiv and Fastiv districts, and damage to private houses in Bucha district, including a fire in an open area. In Fastiv district, drone debris caused damage to a veterinary clinic and a private residence.

Preliminary reports indicated that a warehouse also caught fire following the attack in Obukhiv district. Russia's drone attacks on Kyiv resumed shortly after a brief interruption coinciding with the visit of U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to the capital. The previous day, on September 9, Russian jet-powered drones targeted residential buildings and other locations across Kyiv, leading to one fatality and injuries to at least 17 individuals, including two children.

On September 8, a massive Russian missile and drone assault on the capital claimed the lives of five people and left 35 injured, accompanied by extensive fires across the city. Russia has historically employed drone attacks on gas stations to disrupt fuel supplies and road logistics, notably in Kharkiv, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.

By August, the tactic had expanded to central regions, with numerous gas stations targeted throughout the summer.
