RaGa to be INDIA's PM face in 2029 polls: TN Min

Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu - Tamil Nadu's Higher Education Minister and Congress leader, P Viswanathan, has reaffirmed his party's stance that Rahul Gandhi will be the party's Prime Ministerial candidate in the 2029 General Elections. Viswanathan, who was traveling to Thiruvarur for various programs, firmly stated that there was no hesitation in declaring this position.

As the Congress' birthright person, Viswanathan emphasized that Rahul Gandhi is the logical choice for the Prime Ministerial role. He acknowledged that other political parties would naturally select their own leaders, and there was nothing wrong with the Congress highlighting Rahul Gandhi, given the party's rich political history.

When questioned about Congress MP Manickam Tagore allegedly being hesitant to name Rahul Gandhi as the PM candidate, Viswanathan declared openly that Rahul Gandhi is the Congress' Prime Ministerial candidate for 2029. He also dismissed the notion that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay could be projected as the PM candidate, stating that this assessment was incorrect and premature.

Viswanathan lauded Rahul Gandhi's political struggles, stating that they should be commemorated in world history. He expressed confidence in the Congress' alliance with Left parties and their projected victory in the upcoming by-elections in Madurantakam and Dharapuram constituencies.

He added that Vijay's image would remain at the peak for the next 25 years, and the alliance would secure the by-elections' victory. Polling for the by-elections is scheduled for October 6, with vote counting on October 9. Viswanathan made these remarks a day after the TVK-led ruling alliance adopted the name Secular Social Justice Victory Alliance at a meeting of its constituent parties in Panaiyur.
