Punjab Suspends Glycosting Injection Supply

The health authorities in Punjab have placed a temporary prohibition on the distribution and sale of a specific batch of Glycosting injection following reports of potential adverse drug reactions. This decision was made under Alert No. 125/2026 by the Directorate of Drug Control, Punjab. The problematic product, Glycosting 1ml injection, contains glycopyrrolate 0.5mg and neostigmine methylsulfate 2.5mg. It is identified by batch code BBG11 and has an expiration date of January 2028.

Health officials reported that the product was linked to several suspected adverse drug reactions, such as severe bradycardia, or an unnaturally slow heart rate, in multiple healthcare facilities throughout Punjab. In response, the Provincial Quality Control Board has issued a directive to halt the use of the product as a precautionary measure while they conduct further investigations and regulatory actions.

Both manufacturers and the regulatory bodies have been instructed to immediately cease the release, distribution, and sale of the affected batch and provide records of their manufacturing, quality control, distribution, complaints, and pharmacovigilance activities.

Pharmacies, wholesalers, distributors, and healthcare facilities are also required to cease administering, dispensing, selling, or distributing the affected batch, and any remaining stock should be quarantined. Healthcare facilities are instructed to report their inventory and consumption records to the appropriate drug inspector. Additionally, patients and consumers have been advised against using or receiving the affected batch as a precautionary measure.
