Punjab Set to Launch Athlete Card for Top Performers

The government of Punjab is preparing to issue athlete cards to top-performing sportsmen and sportswomen. These cards will be funded by the Punjab Sports Endowment Fund and will allow payments to be made using digital means. Fazal-ur-Rehman, the Secretary of Sports Punjab, announced the initiative during a meeting at Punjab Stadium to discuss the details of the cards and their payment system.

Officials from the Bank of Punjab briefed the gathering on the various features of the Athlete Card and the process for transferring funds to the recipients. Fazal-ur-Rehman mentioned that over 300 athletes will receive these cards in the first phase. The cards will be awarded to leading performers in various sports, such as kabaddi, tennis, and hockey.

The meeting was attended by Tariq Qureshi, the Director General of Sports Punjab; Shabbir Hussain Cheema, Additional Secretary of Sports; Abid Shaukat, Director of Administration; M. Fahad, Director of Youth Affairs; Asad Zia, Head of Marketing at the Bank of Punjab; M. Adnan, Head of Digital Cards at the Bank of Punjab; and other senior officials.
