Pune: MBBS Student Dies After Jumping From 10th Floor In Katraj, Exam Stress Suspected

In Pune, a 21-year-old second-year MBBS student tragically passed away after leaping from the 10th floor of a residential building in Katraj, with exam-related stress potentially being the motive, police revealed on Thursday. The unfortunate incident took place on Wednesday afternoon at Nancy Lake Home Society, where the student was residing alongside her elder brother.

Concerned residents promptly contacted the police through the 112 emergency hotline, leading to the arrival of a team from Bharati Vidyapeeth police station at the scene. Upon investigation, the woman was found unconscious at the location and identified as Adi Maya Shekhar Reddy, a second-year MBBS student. According to police reports, her elder brother, Dr Adi Adeem Shekhar Reddy, disclosed to investigators that she had no grievances or conflicts with anyone.

Furthermore, he informed authorities that her ongoing examinations may have induced her to resort to such a drastic measure. Senior Police Inspector Sudarshan Gaikwad of Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station stated that the family had not raised any suspicions against anyone. So far, no other leads have emerged during the preliminary inquiry.

Regrettably, no suicide note has been discovered at the spot. Police have seized the student's laptop and mobile phone, subjecting them to examination to uncover any information that might shed light on the circumstances surrounding her death. An accidental death case has been filed at Bharati Vidyapeeth police station, and the investigation is currently underway.
