Police record 12 witness statements after RM2.91m armed gang robbery at Jalan Ampang condo

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 — Twelve witnesses have been called upon to provide statements to aid the police investigation into a heist at a high-end condominium in Jalan Ampang, Malaysia, involving a loss of RM2.91 million. Wangsa Maju police chief ACP Annas Sulaiman disclosed that the investigation is ongoing to identify all suspects linked to the crime.

He emphasized that the inquiry will also explore the possibility of 'insider' involvement or collusion, considering the condominium's stringent security measures. At the time of the robbery, the victim was accompanied by eight others inside the residence. Earlier reports indicated that masked men, wearing gloves and armed with knives, forcibly entered a unit at Pavilion Embassy between 2 pm and 3 pm on September 7.

The thieves fled with an estimated RM2.91 million worth of cash, jewelry, and luxury watches, causing damage to a mobile phone and stealing a passport belonging to a 28-year-old Chinese individual. The case is being probed under Sections 395/397 of the Penal Code, which pertain to gang and armed robbery.
