Pokémon TCG 30th Celebration Reveals New Look at Legendary Illustration Rares

The Pokémon Trading Card Game's 30th Celebration expansion is set to release on September 16, 2026, with a global debut on the same day across all major regions. Fans can look forward to new previews of special illustration rare and illustration rare cards, alongside the return of beloved classics from the Classic Collection and 30 unique cards featuring Pikachu.

The latest wave of cards showcases a parade of Legendary Pokémon, including Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, as well as other iconic Pokémon like Alolan Exeggutor, Morpeko, Salamence, Sylveon, and Fuecoco. The set also features a series of Pokémon illuminated by moonlight, including Chandelure, Gholdengo, Scraggy, Jirachi, Toxtricity, and Greninja.

While there is some controversy surrounding the reprints of classic cards, many fans appreciate the nostalgic experience, particularly for those who missed out on them initially. The celebration will offer various products, but acquiring these items has become increasingly challenging due to scalping and secondary market price surges.

In an attempt to curb this issue, Amazon has implemented a ticketed, invite-only lottery system for the 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Boxes, which will be available for purchase from a Request an Invite queue. The expansion pack will contain five foil cards, one foil Basic Energy, and guarantees a unique Pikachu variant in every pack, designed by original Pokémon artist Ken Sugimori.
