Pit bull attack kills Bangkok woman in second fatal mauling

A 70-year-old woman named Wandee died from severe bite wounds inflicted by a pit bull in Bangkok, marking the second fatal attack involving the dog. This tragic incident occurred on September 9th at a rented house in the Nawamin area of Bueng Kum district, following a report of a dog attacking its owner. Upon arrival at the scene, police, forensic officers, a medical examiner, and rescue workers found Wandee with multiple severe injuries across her body, including her face, neck, and arms.

The pit bull, a seven-year-old male named Giant, remained agitated inside the house and had to be safely contained by specialized personnel. A daily housekeeper, who provided care for the dogs, reported that Wandee had been feeding and playing with Giant as usual before the fatal attack. Witness accounts suggested that Giant was unwell and irritable when Wandee attempted to clean the dog's face, leading to the aggressive encounter.

The housekeeper managed to escape, while Wandee succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Reports indicate that Giant had a history of aggression, previously involved in a fatal attack in 2021 in Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri, where its owner died from the injuries. After realizing the dog could be euthanized following the incident, Wandee adopted Giant. Pet safety concerns have been raised in Bangkok due to repeated dog attacks in the area.
