Obi Benue blockade: Police arrest 46 as condemnation mounts

Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) national leader Seriake Dickson has expressed dissatisfaction with the arrest of the individuals who assaulted Peter Obi's convoy in Benue State. Dickson stated this during an interview on Arise Television's 'Prime Time' on Wednesday. He emphasized the need for not only the arrest of the suspects but also their prosecution and the identification of their sponsors.

According to a report by DAILY POST, there was unrest in Benue State on Tuesday following the alleged blocking of a major road by suspected thugs as Obi arrived in the state. Obi, while addressing the incident, described his visit to the area as purely humanitarian, not political in nature. The Benue State Police Command arrested 46 suspects connected to the attack on Wednesday.

Dickson, however, called for a thorough investigation and the uncovering of any potential complicity among high-ranking officials. He stated that while the police had made arrests, the outcome of the investigation and subsequent prosecution of those responsible for the attack is crucial for Nigerians to understand the full extent of the situation.
