‘No one has monopoly on violence’ – ADC warns after attack on Kaduna members

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly condemned the recent attack on its members in Kaduna State, warning that no political party or group holds a monopoly on violence. The party deems the escalation of thuggery into the 2027 election process as highly dangerous, particularly as political activities are just starting. According to a statement from ADC's National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the attack is an unacceptable escalation.

Abdullahi emphasized that the ADC's commitment to peaceful democratic participation should not be mistaken for weakness. He warned that once violence becomes an accepted tool in political competition, it is impossible to predict where it might lead. The statement urged the security agencies to take immediate action in identifying, arresting, and prosecuting those responsible for the attack, as well as anyone who may have sponsored or organized it.

The ADC also expressed solidarity with its Kaduna governorship candidate, Hon. Isa Ashiru, and other party members affected by the incident. It appealed to the Kaduna State Government to ensure the protection and free participation of all opposition parties in political activities. The party stressed that Kaduna belongs to its people, not to any single party, and vowed not to be intimidated.

They reaffirmed their commitment to organizing, campaigning, and competing in every part of Kaduna State, asserting that the 2027 elections must be decided by ideas competing at the ballot box, not by violence and aggression.
