‘New pledge, old lies’ – Nigerians slam Tinubu over unfulfilled promises as 2027 campaigns begin

Nigerians are expressing frustration over President Bola Tinubu's administration, accusing him of failing to fulfill the promises made during the 2023 election campaigns. The President, who took office with his Renewed Hope Agenda, had vowed to address issues such as insecurity, economic revitalization, job creation, improved electricity supply, and reduced poverty.

However, opposition parties argue that these policies have only led to hardship for the majority of Nigerians. Despite the administration's claims of significant progress in economic reforms, critics question whether the benefits have reached ordinary citizens. Among the promises made by Tinubu in 2022, he pledged to create jobs for unemployed youth, generate affordable electricity, establish a strong security infrastructure, and rejuvenate key sectors of the economy.

However, recent reports indicate that while there have been improvements in some areas, millions of Nigerians continue to suffer due to high poverty rates and ongoing security challenges. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) leader and former ADC chairman in Rivers State, Sampson, criticized the administration for enriching themselves while leaving the majority of Nigerians poorer. He stated that the administration's promises were nothing more than empty claims.
