NDC releases guidelines for 2026 Constituency Elections

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has unveiled guidelines for its upcoming 2026 Constituency Executive Elections. Nominations for these elections will commence on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, as announced by the National Secretariat. This marks a key milestone in the party's internal electoral process, adhering to the previously announced timeline.

Aspiring candidates for these positions are urged to maximize the nomination window and ensure all steps are completed according to schedule. To facilitate the nomination process, all associated fees must be paid exclusively through the party’s online portal using mobile money from any network. Aspirants, proposers, seconders, and endorsers must be active party members in good standing with fully paid membership dues for the last four years. Those with outstanding dues are instructed to settle these before engaging in the election process.

The NDC has officially launched campaigning for aspirants vying for internal leadership roles at the constituency, regional, and national levels. Party officials, including regional and constituency officers and ward coordinators, have been instructed to permit eligible candidates to conduct campaign activities within their respective areas.

However, a distinction is made between these internal contests and any ambitions for national parliamentary positions. Candidates seeking to run for parliament, whether current Members of Parliament or those intending to contest parliamentary elections, are expressly prohibited from participating in this campaign window. The Secretariat warns that any violation of this rule will be handled strictly in accordance with the party's established rules and regulations.

The National Secretariat has emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline and respect for democratic values throughout the electoral process. Additionally, it has called for a transparent, peaceful, and orderly campaign to ensure a successful start to the constituency-level election preparations.
