MOH still awaiting official post-mortem report on five Long Lellang crash victims

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 — The Ministry of Health (MOH) remains in the dark regarding the official post-mortem report concerning the victims who perished in the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter crash near Long Lellang, Ulu Baram, Sarawak. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dzulkefly Ahmad disclosed that the ministry is still awaiting official confirmation before disclosing any further details to the public.

"As soon as we receive all the necessary formalities, Datuk DG (Health director-general) will furnish an explanation," he stated at a press conference following the inauguration of the 17th Asean Health Ministers' Meeting (AHMM) in Kuala Lumpur. Health director-general Datuk Dr Mahathar Abdul Wahab and MOH secretary-general Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad were present at the event.

Dr Mahathar mentioned that Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah had elucidated the post-mortem procedures and processes in a statement the previous day, but the ministry had yet to receive a subsequent update on this matter. Yesterday, Mohamad Zainal affirmed that the five deceased victims from the helicopter crash had been retrieved from the crash site and subsequently transported from Long Lellang to Miri for post-mortem examinations and other required procedures.
