MNA Ashamed of No Mobile Service At His Ancestral Home

Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, a Member of National Assembly (MNA), voiced his embarrassment on Thursday about the absence of mobile coverage at his ancestral residence. He admitted to feeling "ashamed" as he had previously drawn attention to this problem. During a gathering of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication, Dr. Bhatti reiterated that mobile service remains nonexistent at his ancestral home.

This statement unfolded as the committee deliberated on the substandard quality and limited availability of mobile and internet services nationwide. Committee members expressed their discontent, highlighting the difficulties users face with call connectivity and poor service quality. They reported instances where calls required multiple attempts to connect, and certain regions continued to lack mobile coverage.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) admitted that mobile and internet service quality continues to be a challenge in various regions. Consequently, the committee plans to question top telecom operators at their forthcoming meeting to address the poor service quality and coverage. Additionally, the committee instructed the PTA to implement measures to enhance mobile service quality and furnish information regarding fines imposed on telecom companies, along with the amounts collected.
