Missing person case reclassified as murder after man found dead in septic tank

NIBONG TEBAL: Police have upgraded a missing person inquiry to a murder investigation after a man's body was discovered in a septic tank at a residence in Taman Seri Bistari, here on September 8th. Deputy Superintendent Mohd Norazmi Abd Ghapar of Seberang Prai Selatan district informed that the initial report was filed on September 7th, prompting an immediate investigation.

Upon discovering a foul odor emanating from the house, authorities found the body. A post-mortem confirmed the identity of the deceased. Following the results of the post-mortem and further developments in the case, police have reclassified the incident from Section 365 of the Penal Code for abduction to Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Norazmi mentioned that investigators are probing the motive and circumstances surrounding the incident, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. The victim's family had initially reported the individual missing in the Seberang Prai Tengah district.

Today, five individuals were detained for four days to aid in the investigation into the abduction. The suspects, comprising three Malaysians, including the house owner, and two Myanmar nationals - a man and a woman, are currently in custody.
