Mayawati 'frees' nephew Akash Anand from BSP

Lucknow: BSP chief Mayawati announced on Thursday the complete liberation of her nephew Akash Anand from the party after her father-in-law and former Rajya Sabha member Ashok Siddharth announced his retirement from politics. Mayawati questioned whether Anand, whose personal and family interests seemed to take precedence over his political career and the BSP, could effectively work for the party while remaining conflicted.

She pointed out Anand's failure to repost her earlier X post, indicating a stronger attachment to family ties than the party. Consequently, the party felt he should also be freed from the BSP effective immediately. Mayawati praised Siddharth's decision as timely, despite its tardiness, and stated that his retirement was aimed at benefiting the Bahujan Samaj Party, its movement, and Anand.

Siddharth's emotional X post expressed his commitment to the BSP's mission for 35 years, despite his retirement. Mayawati urged BSP workers to focus on winning the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections and establishing the party's rule in the state, emphasizing the principle of Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay.
