Many security service recruits dismissed over forged WASSCE results - Interior Minister

Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed has revealed that numerous recruits have been fired from security services training institutions following investigations that uncovered forged or altered West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results. The Minister stated that these discrepancies came to light after the recruits' submitted results were sent to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for verification.

Alhaji Muntaka, in remarks at a ceremony marking the opening of new classroom facilities at Asokore Mampong Roman Catholic School, expressed worry that individuals aspiring to join the Police, Prisons, Immigration, Fire Service, Narcotics Control Commission, and Armed Forces were resorting to document tampering. "It's astonishing that many people falsified their grades," he remarked, questioning how they could believe their employment would go unchecked despite presenting a fraudulent certificate.

He further warned prospective applicants to ensure they meet the necessary qualifications before applying for positions in any of the country's security services. "As we speak, many have been dismissed from training because they doctored their result slips," he cautioned, adding that those found guilty would be added to a red list, barring them from future attempts to join the security forces.
