Malaysia's natural rubber production edges up 1pct in July

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's natural rubber production increased by one percent month-on-month in July, reaching 26,817 tonnes from 26,553 tonnes in June, according to the Statistics Department. However, year-on-year, production declined by 25.3 percent, falling from 35,884 tonnes in July 2025 to the current level. Smallholders were the primary contributors to Malaysia's natural rubber production in July, accounting for 87.6 percent of the total output, while estates contributed 12.4 percent.

In terms of rubber stocks, there was a 0.7 percent decline to 128,946 tonnes in July, down from 129,836 tonnes in June. Rubber processors factories held 77.8 percent of the total stocks, followed by rubber consumers factories at 22 percent and rubber estates at 0.2 percent. Exports of Malaysia's natural rubber grew by 6.2 percent month-on-month, reaching 41,241 tonnes in July from 38,821 tonnes in June.

China was the main destination, accounting for 45.2 percent of total exports, followed by Germany at 14.4 percent, the United States at 9.1 percent, the United Arab Emirates at 6.4 percent, and Brazil at 3.3 percent. Rubber-based products, particularly rubber gloves, drove the exports, with a value of RM1.7 billion in July, an increase of 20.4 percent from RM1.4 billion in June.

The average monthly price of concentrated latex dropped by 1.5 percent to RM7.25 per kilogram in July from RM7.36 per kg in June. The price of scrap rubber also decreased by 5 percent to 753.23 sen per kilogram from 792.76 sen per kg.
