Live: Hanson must explain 'silly' cartoon directed at Andrew Hastie, Liberal senator says

Shadow Home Affairs Minister Jonno Duniam has called on Pauline Hanson to explain a cartoon that repeatedly labels Liberal MP Andrew Hastie as a traitor. The One Nation leader has refused to remove the satirical video which remains pinned at the top of her X account page. Critics from various political parties have lambasted the video, which also degrades Hastie as a gutless maggot, urging Hanson to take it down.

Speaking on ABC Radio National Breakfast, Duniam condemned the Coalition's stance, asserting their support for Hastie. He questioned Hanson's motives, asking her to explain her actions if she truly wants to lead the nation. Duniam also highlighted the uncertainty surrounding the government's proposed digital duty of care legislation, which aims to protect under-18s from harmful content on social media platforms and provide users with an opt-out option from the algorithm.

The opposition remains open to the algorithm opt-out model. Meanwhile, the prime minister, defence minister, and foreign minister released a statement marking the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, honoring the memory of those who lost their lives and reaffirming the government's commitment against terrorism and violent extremism.
