LEGO Astro Bot Set Leaks, Though It Won't Be Available as a Standalone Purchase

LEGO is set to release an adorable Astro Bot set, though it won't be available for standalone purchase. The 276-piece set, known as Astro Bot (40899), will be a Gift With Purchase (GWP) when customers buy the previously-revealed LEGO PlayStation from LEGO's own stores or website, while supplies last. Various leaks have hinted at this Astro Bot GWP for some time, with images of its box and confirmation that it won't be able to be bought separately now published by Brick Tap.

Astro Bot, previously presumed to be recycled, is now Sony's de facto PlayStation mascot, making his appearance here as an add-on for the official PlayStation set unsurprising. The set's Astro Bot stands 20cm tall and 12cm wide, and the design is well-received by PlayStation fans. However, for those not wanting to spend $179.99 on a LEGO PS1 bundle, this Astro Bot is likely to become available via resale sites at inflated prices.

LEGO has yet to officially announce Astro Bot, as preorders for the LEGO PlayStation are still pending, despite the set launching on October 4 or October 1 for LEGO Insiders. LEGO is expected to release another Astro Bot entry following the 2024 PlayStation 5 hit, which received a 9/10 score in IGN's review.
