Lee orders review of measures to help families of S. Koreans missing in Nepal

President Lee Jae Myung has ordered a review of measures to provide assistance to the families of nine Koreans who went missing during recent floods in Nepal, according to a statement from his office. The president received this directive following his return from a state visit to France earlier in the day, where he was briefed on the challenges faced by the families of the missing individuals.

The government plans to continue its efforts to support the families of Korean nationals affected by the floods in Nepal. A search for the missing individuals, comprising six employees from Doosan Enerbility and three from Korea South-East Power, has been underway since August 26, when a deluge of floods and landslides struck the construction site where they were working near the Nepal-Tibet border.

Upon returning from France, the families of the three workers from Korea South-East Power held a press conference in Kathmandu, demanding action to address their concerns. President Lee instructed the government to fully listen to and respect the wishes of the families, ensuring their concerns are incorporated as much as possible in any measures taken to aid them.
