Knesset speaker calls on Winter to withdraw from election, claims he is endangering right-wing bloc

Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana called on Ofer Winter, chairman of the People of Israel party, to withdraw from the upcoming election, arguing that Winter's party is endangering the right-wing bloc. Ohana claimed that the greatest danger to the right is not the Left, but the Right itself, citing a historical example where the left formed a government despite receiving fewer votes in 1992.

Ohana questioned whether Winter's party would pass the electoral threshold, citing the failure of Ayelet Shaked and Naftali Bennett's parties to do so. The Knesset speaker urged Winter to unite, but noted that the deadline had passed. Meanwhile, Ohana dismissed concerns that Yashar party, headed by Gadi Eisenkot, had overtaken Likud in the polls, claiming that favorable polls had never favored Likud in the past.

Ohana also addressed Likud's decline in the polls and its partnership with haredi parties, defending his support for the enlistment law. In response, Winter attacked Ohana, stating that Likud failed to reserve slots for senior members of the People of Israel party and that their attack would only strengthen the rival party. The People of Israel party responded by claiming they seek to refresh the government's ranks and address issues not handled during the previous term, vowing to be a surprise in the election.
